What is thermal insertion?

Thermal insertion is process wherein a heated thermal tip embeds a metal insert into a plastic application .

The plastic application contains a cored or drilled hole which is slightly smaller than the metal insert.

The heat from the thermal tip travels through the metal insert causing the plastic to soften just enough for the insert to be imbedded into the hole by the advancing thermal tooling.

The thermal tip is then retracted causing he molten plastic to flow over the metal insert and resolidifies effectively encapsulating the insert.
